Special mention should be made of Scotland’s only tram network - in Edinburgh. In 2024, the one line was extended to Newhaven. I travelled on this all new extension in July 2024.
Sheffield has a mix of trams routes and a special tram-train service. The latter I used for the first time in 2023. Earlier 2024, the South Yorkshire transport executive took brought service into public control - now owning and operating the trams and tram-train.

In 2024, I had the privilege of seeing or travelling on every single urban tram network in England and Scotland. There are total of six such networks in England and one in Scotland. All pictures in this answer were taken by me, Nicholas Stone, the author of this answer.
Over in Wales, the Cardiff City Region will see electric tram vehicles deployed on existing rail routes and planned on street running. Branded Cardiff Crossrail, the tram will connect the city's central station with the bay, and will be built by early 2029.
Greater Manchester tram - Metrolink - is the largest network in the UK. Service is owned by Transport for Greater Manchester, an executive body of the regional elected authority, with daily operations undertaken by an appointed contractor. In 2024, I travelled the new extension to the Trafford Centre as well as existing routes to Rochdale and the international airport.

In 2024, I travelled on Nottingham’s tram service for the first time. Ticketing could be clearer, but I was impressed with this modern and busy network.
The Blackpool tram network opened in 1885 and has been operating ever since. Wholly owned by Blackpool council, this coastal tram network was extended inland in 2024 to serve Blackpool North railway station. I rode this new extension in September 2024.
Beyond these urban networks, there are also tram lines at the National Tramway Museum in Derbyshire and also in East Devon.

During the year, I was also able to see tram operations in Birmingham and south London. Branded West Midlands metro, the Birmingham tram network is being extended - as this evident from the considerable work and completed section near the National Express coach station.
